Why we check that you run a business
A page for a business on the map needs one quick check that it is yours.
Anyone could type the name of a café that is not theirs. So a page linked to a business on the map asks for one quick check before it goes live.
The usual way is a WhatsApp message sent from the business’s own WhatsApp: the builder writes the message, you tap Send, and the screen moves on by itself. If the shop’s phone is somewhere else, the builder shows a QR code to scan with it.
Other ways, when the listing offers them: a code sent to the listing’s number, or a code sent to an email address on the business’s own domain.
Not the owner, or not ready? You can share a private preview of the page instead. If someone checks a page with your business’s WhatsApp without asking you, the message has a Not me button: within 24 hours it withdraws that check, so the page’s next update waits for a new one.
